BUSTED!

Looks like the squeaky-clean, always-sportsman-like-rep of the Patriots is about to lose some luster.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has determined that the New England Patriots violated league rules Sunday when they videotaped defensive signals by the New York Jets’ coaches, according to league sources.

NFL security officials confiscated a camera and videotape from Patriots video assistant Matt Estrella on the New England sidelines when it was suspected he was recording the Jets’ defensive signals. Sources say the visual evidence confirmed the suspicion.

Goodell is considering severe sanctions, including the possibility of docking the Patriots “multiple draft picks” because it is the competitive violation in the wake of a stern warning to all teams since he became commissioner, the sources said. The Patriots have been suspected in previous incidents.

I hope they lose a lot over this- but more importantly, I hope Goodell and the NFL nail everyone ELSE who’s doing this too, because you know the Pats are not the only guilty party.

I am still pissed that the Patriots stole a playoff game from the Raiders many years ago. This is the beginning of payback.

I could not be happier that the Patsies have been caught with their hand in the cookie jar. I take an regular beating from my friends in the NE about their “beloved Patriots” so I was overjoyed to see this hurled in their direction.

    Great blog!

Rita- welcome and thanks for the blog-props. :)

I, too, am feeling a degree of “HA!” at this turn of events. That feeling is tempered by what I feel was a lame punishment. However, no one deserves to be taken down a peg more than Belichick, so there is that!

Jack, welcome to you as well- I do agree, I think this is the beginning of some interesting developments. Also, I’m wondering how angry Kraft is about now…arrogant Bill may be getting more punishment at home.
