That is the sound of the stress leaving me and a sense of relaxation coming home to roost.
Bayou and I have needed this little getaway more than you know. Stress has been piling up like dirty laundry that’s so rank it can walk by itself.
Long Beach is a place near and dear to our hearts, so it’s only fitting that we come here to recharge our batteries.
This post is brought to you by lavendar earl grey tea, brewed courtesy of Long Beach Coffee Roasters. They also have great taste in music, as they’re playing KT Tunstall.
Next up on our agenda will be hitting the Cape Disappointment lighthouse. I’ve gotten some spiffy photos there in the past, so I would like to try my luck with the new camera in the family.
And because I can’t entirely disengage from work, I have to share this news. I got an email forwarded to me by my good pal J$, which informed me:
“And the Internet Cop/Investigator of the Month for January 2006 is …
LACHLAN GREER!”
The email to God and everbody goes on to say blah, blah, blah, Lach’s so great and I take iniative and support everyone, yadda yadda… which is nice! Don’t get me wrong. I just refuse to copy the email here. I don’t want to look too self-important. Heh.
Anyway, the kicker:
“She now gets to take her place on the Hall of Investigator Heroes as well as her choice of a Mini iPod or a $50 Cool Company gift certificate.”
I WON AN iPOD! I still can’t believe it. It’s nice to get the recognition; I’ve worked very hard, and having it acknowleged by my managers feels pretty nice. And it came at a good time- we just started our yearly review process. Getting investigator of the month can’t hurt!
Ok, enough of that. More to follow, I’m sure… stay tuned for updates from the peninsula!

Yay for your new toy! And congrats on the recognition.
Congratulations on being recognized for your hard work… and for having the god sense to take some well-deserved time off from it. Have fun!
