First Christmas Tree

Ever since I’ve been on my own, I’ve been without a Christmas tree. Either there was no space, or there was no money, so it was just never a part of the equation.

Since I’ve been with The Cool Company, it was even less of a priority- this time of year is so hectic that the last thing I wanted to do was decorate.

Well, this year I promised Bayou we’d finally get a tree. We headed out to our favorite hardware store and got a Douglas Fir that’s about 7′. We picked up ornaments at Big Lots, where I took a picture of this tree and faked out some peeps on Facebook that that was the tree we were buying.

In the end, we got the basics together and our living room now has a suitable holiday vibe.

Merry Chrismuhanukwanizka!

    yay!!!
    its Fab!

one ‘weesey’ thing tho.. that fireplace – do you have fires there?
one teeny tiny spark can ignite a live tree so fast you would’t be able to get to the fire extinguisher or hose.

    saftey first.

Nope. We don’t use it. :)

We put our tree up yesterday. Every year Court and I get an ornament to represent the year, and through the years I’ve gotten dated ornaments for Amanda. Going through all those ornaments is like a walk down memory lane. It’s really something special. This year we found an artisan to make us an ornament with our gay cafe logo on it, because 2009 was all about that for us.

    Enjoy your tree!

Bayou got us an ornament our first year together and none after, so we’re lame. Or rather I am. ;-) But I think we’ll continue again now that we’ve gotten some stuff. I love some of the goofier, non-traditional ornaments. We’ve seen several that crack me up.

Happy Xmas tree! We have a bunch of non-traditional ornaments that I love. a tiny sweater on a hanger, an artichoke, silver frying pan, the gigantic pasta one my sister made me the year I was her favorite (that was 20 years ago..I have gone through the favored sibling rotation a few times since then), then there are my horse ornaments from when I was riding, ones that look like my dog -Fred the dog, cow ornaments from when I was working with cows, a moose my other sister thought was a cow during the same era….ok, I guess I am in Trop’s camp…its a trip down memory lane every year.

I want that pink tree for my office! Seriously, I’d buy a pink one if it were just a little table-top one. Of course Fran would never let it in the door of our home, that’s why it’d have to go in the office. :)
