This time, not of the B&E/pilfering variety.
I’ve created a new gallery on Flickr for our sewing projects- it’s called Stitch & Bitch. I’ve uploaded photos of all our creations, which have grown from 2 to 6. The set is in order of creation, too.
Tonight I did a bag almost entirely by myself- Bayou cut out the pattern for me, but I did all of the sewing.
I still can’t believe I’m enjoying this. It still sort of feels like a partial brain transplant has happened.
I am LOVING these bags! I always wanted to learn how to sew. I am so bad at the math and measurements. Thanks for sharing the pictures. AWESOME!
I give you credit. Of course, this comes from someone who gave up all of her hobbies except for shopping.
That has got to be such a nice break from routine (and if you’re like me, which I know you are, “routine” is synonymous with “synchronized chaos”). It’s also engaging a different part of your brain so a transplant probably is the best analogy.
Keep up the great work and I’ll be sure to add the Flickr stream to my RSS reader!
Hi Frannie- welcome! I am a terrible measurer too, so I understand. It’s getting easier with time, though.
Dawn, you’re right- I do need a break from the routine, and it is definitely engaging a creative part of myself that desperately, desperately needed it. I HAD to try something else or my brain was going to wither and die.
I’m totally enjoying your bags and your blogs about your bags. It’s awesome.
Maybe I’m-a have to learn how to do some of these.
P.S. Etsy store!
I know, Etsy is coming! That’s the plan, to get going with this and make some side cash. Maybe I can sew myself out of a job.
It’s not as hard as I thought; my main problem is measuring/cutting. I am not at ALL good with that. Thank god Bayou is!
everybody is sewing these days. my wife and daughter are going to a quilting party tomorrow night.
i …will stay home and swill beer.
Me too weese. I fuss when I have to sew a button on something. I can’t imagine sitting down to sew, just for fun.
To each her own. I do like the bags.
I never thought I would like doing this, but there is a creative aspect and since it results in a tangible item, it’s pretty interesting.
But, beer is not forgotten- I had one last night while I sewed.
Just one, though- I wouldn’t want to stitch my hand to the bags!
I love the chocolate paisley bag. However, you couldn’t pay me to sew more than a button.
Ooh, sewing! I’m trying to teach myself to sew, and it’s nice to have inspiration.
COOL! I have a fellow sewer, yay!
What are you teaching yourself to do? We’re about to embark on hemming jeans, which no doubt will be highly educational. I was so proud of myself this weekend, I fixed a shirt where the seam had come apart a little.
