Dammit, this Rx theft debacle won’t die.
I called my doc over the weekend to let them know, and they called me yesterday. By the time I got the voicemail it was too late to call back, so we chatted this morning.
Even though I called the pharmacy Saturday, the thief was able to fill one of them on Monday. That’s some real fine communication and diligence there, Rite Aid. Since the request to refill came in over fax, my Dr’s office assumed it was my request for a replacement.
It turns out even before we asked to be withdrawn from the client list of our cleaning service, the owner had fired the woman responsible- she had stolen valium from the owner. When she found out about the theft of our stuff, she was livid and upset.
There is, to put it mildly, a lack of clarity about the full name and identity of the thief. She was a fil-in for the week only and I am not sure why the owner isn’t certain of her name. This frustrates me to no end, but hopefully more info will be forthcoming. I tried to file a report with the King County Sheriff, but I have to do it in person. GRRRRRR.
Adding to the intrigue, I just found out from my doc that the Rx thiefette filled hasn’t been picked up yet, and the location where she called it in is aware of the theft. Hopefully they can nab her on site. I’d be pleased as hell if that happened.
I think -I hope!- the mess is winding down and that there are no additional surprises from this. Talk about a headache.
Sounds like an illegal ali…oops, I mean “undocumented worker”.
Well, thiefette is Cuban, so there ya go. But I do think there’s a distinct possibility that she isn’t legal.
I’m betting at this point she won’t be picking up the Rx, someone probably told her not to, or she would have by now. Agree that she’s probably not legal.
Well, I am not so sure- she got fired Friday, before she even called it in. So we’ll see. She hasn’t proven herself to be that bright. Anything is possible at this point!
I kinda feel sorry for her. Not sorry enough to let her get away with anything or give her the benefit of the doubt, but I just feel bad that someone’s in a position to feel like they have to do that.
Nice multiple breakdowns of the healthcare system, though. Good to hear the company was on top of things (after the fact, which clearly they weren’t beforehand).
Yup. That was actually one of the most frustrating parts- the pharmacy dropping the ball, and then one branch being totally put out by the suggestion that they be on the lookout for her.
My dr’s office, however, was fantastic. Love ‘em.
Did they catch her?
Not that I know of; but I suspect she’ll get caught eventually.
