This weekend did a lot to erase the ‘meh’ feelings I was having last week- I felt tired, brain-mushy, and just generally kind of crappy. It’s amazing how a number of small victories can add up to a large wave of positivity. It can be so easy to overlook those small wins and see only the negative. Because I am so fond of lists, a bullet point bonanaza of good vibes:
- We booked our trip to San Diego for 2/4-2/8. YAY! Extra awesome bonus: we’re staying with some friends and saving about a billion in hotel costs.
- We attended a sewing class Saturday, in the hopes of learning to hem pants, shorten shirt sleeves, and more. We left with a plethora of cool ideas and a possible side business idea. The latter of which will only fly if I can actually become good at this, so we’ll see.
- We had a lovely, romantic anniversary dinner at La Rustica, an authentic Italian place near Alki. Locals: if you want to go, make reservations. That place was BUSY.
- We picked up some more wood for me to continue learning to be an artful pyrographer. I did a Celtic knot design on a small jewelry box last night, but I am kinda iffy about the results. I think the wood was not the best kind for the project, plus I should have laid the design against the grain differently. But it’s all good, live and learn.
- I volunteered to do more of the cooking at home. To that end, I’ve been researching recipes and purchased a couple books which I think will help us to make better, healthier choices.
- Had my first soccer game of the winter season last night. We lost, but I didn’t shame myself after a about a month between games. Damn holiday layoff. It felt amazing to run. I get a tremendous, lasting runner’s high from sprinting on the field. Nothing else compares.
- We’re busier than hell at work right now which means OT for me and that translates to vacation fun money.
