1. How long have you been together? 5 years this past January.

2. Who pursued who? Bayou was more aggressive, but I definitely didn’t pretend to be uninterested.

3. Do you wear any type of wedding/commitment ring? If so, which hand? We used to both have traditionally-placed rings until I got fat and can’t wear mine, and Bayou lost her claddagh. So right now we’re ringless in Seattle.

4. What was the hardest thing about learning to live together? Overall, it wasn’t too hard. But each of us had to learn to compromise on a few things. Bayou had to learn to be more timely, and I had to learn to not feel so touchy about someone else being in my space.

5. Who takes longer to get ready in the morning? Bayou, only because it takes her so long to wake up.

6. Do you usually eat breakfast together? Nope, except on the weekends. And even then not all the time.

7. Do you ever share clothes? All the time. We’re about the same size and like a lot of the same stuff, but I will NEVER succumb to the urge (laziness?) to dress alike.

8. Who does most of the cooking? Bayou. I am a danger to all human and animal life in the kitchen.

9. Who usually takes out the trash? We’re pretty even on this chore. Just depends on who’s home, what time it is, and who remembers. Since our trash day changed from Monday to Wednesday we’ve been a tad out of whack.

10. If you have pets who usually does litter box or poop patrol? I do most of of it.

11. Which one of you is more likely to answer the phone when it rings? I don’t mind answering, but I am developing an almost pathological aversion to calling people. Early-onset Eccentricity Syndrome?

12. Who’s in charge of the remote if you’re watching TV together? Bayou. I am not keeper of the remote, and never have wanted to be.

13. Who usually drives when you go out together? Bayou. Since I can’t (Shut up) drive stick, I am relegated to passenger. And frankly, I don’t mind not driving. But I do miss road trip driving…

14. Which one of you takes care of spiders and bugs that get into the house? I am responsible for all bug and dead animal carcass removal. Bayou can’t handle either with any level of comfort. Although she’ll get close enough to hold the bag when I put animal bodies in them… so at least I have help.

15. Facing the bed, who sleeps on which side? If you’re standing at the foot of the bed, looking at the head of the bed, I’m on the left and Bayou hogging the middle with help from Gypsy.

16. Who usually checks the (postal) mailbox? Bayou, since the mail comes during her time at home for lunch.

17. If something breaks or goes wrong in the house, which one of you is more likely to either fix it or call someone to fix it? This is split 50-50, generally.

18. Who is generally the neater of you? Bayou is more of a neat freak about certain things, like the kitchen. I get agitated when the bathroom is messed up.

19. Who handles the checkbook/pays the bills? Not I, I just make the money.

20. What was your last fight/disagreement about? *thinks* I believe it was a spat relating my preparations for India. Really minor and stress-driven. Before that, I can’t recall exactly what our last real argument was about. Clearly, it was not a big deal.

21. When you slow dance together, who leads? I do. I love to hold my girl and lead in slow dances.

22. What do you love the most about your other half? Her understanding and acceptance of everything I am. She knows me like no other, and because of this, we are able to have such an amazing relationship. And I love everything else about her, too. But this one thing is what makes our world what it is, and no one else has ever come close.
